We are thrilled to announce that our next show is “The Wedding Singer”
The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, The Wedding Singer’s sparkling new score does for the ’80s what Hairspray did for the ’60s. Just say yes to the most romantic musical in 20 years.
The show dates are 18-20th February 2027 at Priorsfield School.
Rehearsals will take place every Tuesday evening 7-9pm and Sundays 1-4pm at The Arts Centre, Guildford, GU1 2RE.
Audition information will be available soon. Auditions will be held in August 2026.
The taster session will be held on Sunday 23rd August in the afternoon at The Arts Centre in Guildford.
Fancy being on the Creative team? Applications are now open!

We hold taster sessions for each show – it is completely free to attend and helps give you an idea of what being a Meadowlark member is like, and how our rehearsals run.
These fun and chilled sessions usually involve some games and introductions, followed by learning sections of vocals and choreography from one or two of our numbers from the show. There will also be plenty of opportunities to chat to current members, or to our founders, to ask any questions you may have.
Our next taster session for our ‘The Wedding Singer” will be held on the afternoon of Sunday 23rd August, at The Arts Centre, Guildford, Gu1 2RE. Sign up information will be available soon.
If you cannot make the taster session, you are more than welcome to come along to one of our regular rehearsals free of charge – but please contact us directly to arrange this. If you are interested in being involved in ‘The Wedding Singer’ but you cannot make the taster session, we still encourage you to audition.

Audition information will be released soon. If you have any questions in the meantime please contact us.

We are recruiting for the following roles:
Director
The Director is generally in charge of the production, it is the job of the director to work with all other creatives to carry out the creative vision for the show. Whilst primarily in charge of the acting direction for the show, you will liaise with all other departments to make sure the vision is cohesive across all areas. This includes costumes, lighting, set, choreography – anything that contributes to the show. It is generally expected that the Director will be responsible for planning and leading regular production meetings, but this can be discussed with the Production Manager to work out what works best. You will essentially be leading the entire project (with support from Meadowlark wherever needed), and all major decisions pertaining to the show should be run through both you and the Production Manager.
Assistant Director
The Assistant Director is there to support the Director. They take on less of the overarching and logistic responsibility, and are there to support the scene work and blocking, as well as occasionally leading rehearsals. This role should work closely with the Director to establish what parts of the show they can best contribute to, and how the work is to be divided. The Assistant Director could also have the option to be in the cast.
Choreographer
The Choreographer will work closely with the Director to decide the creative vision for the show, and subsequently create choreography for the show in line with this. There are often a few numbers that might fall under the remit of the Director or Assistant Director (or an additional Choreographer), but it is the responsibility of the Choreographer(s) to discuss this with those creative team members and plan accordingly.
Assistant Choreographer:
The Assistant Choreographer is there to support the Choreographer. This could be through helping to lead dance auditions, working in collaboration on certain numbers, or choreographing their own numbers. The Choreographer and Assistant Choreographer should discuss how they wish to work together. The Assistant Choreographer could also have the option to be in the cast.

We hold free taster sessions before starting rehearsals for each show to give you an idea of what a Meadowlark rehearsal is like.
These usually will involve introductions, games and learning a short song and dance. Don’t worry, you don’t need to prepare anything in advance.
Our next taster sessions for our ‘Songs from the Screen’ showase are Sunday the 8th and 15th March, 1-4pm at The Arts Centre, Guildford (Gu1 2RE). Please sign up here
If you cannot attend a taster session or miss the sign-up, don’t worry! You can come along to one of our rehearsals free of charge to get an idea of what Meadowlark is like. Please get in touch with us to arrange this.
We rehearse 7-9pm on Tuesdays and 1-5pm on Sundays at The Arts Centre in Guildford (GU1 2RE). Whilst you might not always be called for the full session, our rehearsal schedule will be jam-packed so it’s best to keep this time free each week. In some cases, it will be possible for us to adapt or amend our schedule to suit your availability, but please reach out to our team to discuss this before signing up for a show.
Not at all! All levels and abilities are welcome.
Showcases: If you’d like to perform in one of our showcases, we will ask you to audition if you’d like a solo. Everyone who signs up to be in the show will be in the show and we guarantee that everybody who auditions will get a solo part.
For those who do want a solo, the audition process will involve you sending in an individual singing audition (please choose a song from our showcase setlist, which you can find above).
On the sign-up form, we will ask you about your confidence with dancing purely so that it can help us decide whether to place you in dance-heavy numbers or not. There is no formal dance audition process, but if you want to send in a clip of you dancing to show us your strengths, please feel free to do so!
Main shows: The audition process for each main show will differ depending on the creative team, but the same principle will apply – everybody who auditions to be in the show will be able to take part.
There are a variety of ways in which you can get involved at Meadowlark – we welcome applications for the creative team for our main shows which includes: director, choreographer, musical director, costume designer, set designer, stage manager, and more. We’re also always on the lookout for technical support for our showcases so if that’s something you’d like to assist with, please get in touch!
Each show will have a show fee which will vary from show to show – please see our Store page for further information. Payment plans can be arranged on a case-by-case basis – please contact the Committee to discuss this. Our goal is never to make a profit, but simply cover the costs of the shows so we can all keep doing what we love – performing!
We spend 3-4 months rehearsing for one show, which will either be a showcase (a selection of our favourite musical theatre songs) or a full musical show. Once the show is over, we will then have a short break to open taster sessions up to new members and start the whole process again!
Join our musical theatre group for an inclusive and supportive community. We welcome all backgrounds and skills for our next show. Collaborate, make friends, and learn new skills. Come along to your first rehearsal completely for free to help you decide!
